How funny is this...that I'm the first to post something in the old school section though I wasn't one of the long lasting names that people will remember. I'd have to check the archives but I'm positive it was in early 1998 that I was in the fed. Chris Freytag and I attended the same high school and became buds since we had a lot of the same interests and I worked in the tech/computer room where he'd hang out online. Being a pretty big Nitro fan, favoring DDP and Giant, we hit it off pretty well on the topic of prowrestling though we had other ties and mutual friends unrelated to the subject of e-fedding. Anyway, he had begun running his Canadian Assassin character and put together a stable called the Canadian Foundation. My first character was Lord Leafer and I joined the stable and made a satisfying impact. I think my first real big rivalry was with Dan Saint. That was a fun time. These days it's Nigel Brock that I've tried to get off the ground. Had I only thought him up ten years ago...maybe I'd be one of the names still talked about, haha.

Man I'm definitely WWCWF alumni. I spent quite a bit of time roleplaying there and competing while working with a lot of really cool people. I remember being in the Havoc Shadows with Matt Pepper, Clayton Scott, Alberta Kid, what old school names there, lol. Back in the late 90's there were a lot of good characters here. Bizkit, Kanadian Killah, Iron Knight, Group EG, David Cote...the list could go on and on. And didn't Puerto Rican Panther finally win a match and a title? Haha.
So what ever happened to WWCWF? I don't think I was around when it closed.

I remember being there when it happened. It seemed to come out of nowhere for me, since I felt things were still going alright.
What I call to mind was the Spring Slaughter 1999 Pay-Per-View. It was coming up and I guess Jason Moore had given instruction to Draven to write it out. He in turn contacted me and was unable to write many of the matches so he gave me the direction on how they were to go, and asked me to help write them. So I spent most of the night doing that and uploaded the PPV. When Pepper read it later on he got upset, and I guess whatever was wrong with it added to a pile of other things going wrong, and he closed it down.
Really sucked.

No offense Chris, but that's not what happened and to avoid any cat fighting with anyone, I will refrain from posting the actual events as to what really happened. All I will say is that egos killed the promotion and it made me realize that there should only ever be a single person at the helm and that person should only ever be the one posting cards and vetoing anything that doesn't make sense. That being said, WWCWF was some of the best memories I had in efedding. I went on to have an even better time later on in FWF, but it all began with WWCWF and it was great.

Maybe this is a bad thing...but I kinda wouldn't mind seeing the different perspective hashed out. It's been over 10 years. Who would have a problem with different perspectives? Oh well. Can't blame Pepps for trying to be respectful.
I'm hoping this resurrection will make for some new fun memories.

My first experience in the WWCWF was HORRIBLE.
I was known as The Visionary... The then WWCWF World champion, Mario Racoon, put out an open challenge to the first person to respond... I responded then on either FNF or MNM I lost in a squash match where Mario Racoon broke The Visionary's back, ON MY DEBUT MATCH!
I'm pretty sure the Racoons, Koalas and other zoo animals were Air K's invention and the match was his to write... It was a bad time for WWCWF where there were atomic farts and whatnot.

I just remember being blown away that night we were talking on ICQ and you came to the decision to close the fed.

I guess I'm glad I got to skip that part. I entered in January 1998 and had no idea what e-wrestling was. Draven responded to a character I submitted who I believe was called just "Hitman" and was a combination of Sting (the looks and mystique) and Bret Hart (wrestling style.) It resembled the Crow too much so I was asked to tweak it. Hence I went with "Canadian Hitman" but had to change it a couple of matches in since we already had "British Hitman" and "Air Hitman", lol. FINALLY it ended up being Canadian Assassin. I picked up the roleplaying concept fairly quick, and Draven helped me a lot early on with learning the ropes...no pun intended. There was nothing negative that I encountered. I had solid matches, and got involved with the Canadian Championship. Seems I only had a frustrating time when I encountered Dragon. Dude was a douche OOC which threw me off. Everyone else was pretty laid back and easy to get along with OOC, but he was his character 24/7 it seemed.

Can't blame Pepps for trying to be respectful. My perspective was, without placing blame, egos as well. "We all want to be big, big stars, but we all got different reasons for that." Counting Crows. However, reading Spring Slaughter 99 and some events leading up to the end, it was very clear that there wasn't too many segments being submitted from the roster. I don't remember how active everyone from the roster was, but I don't think the representation was very well balanced on the PPV and the cards. Again, no blame being placed, people just weren't being proactive and were relying on the bookers and writers to represent their characters. No one person was at fault, it was a collective breakdown. That's my perspective. As a former WWCWF booker, I don't ever recall very many people submitting segments and the cards that I wrote could be perceived as too focused on BIZKIT and the Star Force Formation. Same could be said when Coolguy wrote cards and it seemed to be more focused on the Havoc Shadows, or Air K, or Draven... on and on... I don't blame the bookers for this... Well, in most instances. Again, characters should have wrote segments or submitted clear ideas to the bookers. There is more to it than that, but I think that this is the core of it. There were obviously cheapshots between bookers now and again. This is where MISSLE's comment of there should only be one person at the top holds merit. That, or close communication between bookers and a vote... So basically, dictatorship, or democracy... Rather than anarchy.

Yeah, Dragon drove me crazy too, but I respected some of his views... He was a good roleplayer and I think he was held down because of his OOC attitude. I wonder what the product would have looked like if he was steering the ship.

Me and him developed a lot of heat OOC. It's funny because just a month or two ago we exchanged a few messages on Facebook and laughed over it. But back then it just wouldn't work. We'd try and bury the hatchet but the next week he'd do something to trigger me, or I him, and all bets were off once again.
A few months after WWCWF closed its doors I remember NasH launching a fed of his own and he brought me in. It was actually there that I left the Canadian Assassin name and built an angle around "going back to my American roots" and real name, blah blah blah whatever. Dragon entered as well shortly after myself, and took a similar approach that I found coincidental. He entered as Dane Helmsley.
Anyhow we seemed to pick up right where we left off in WWCWF. NasH smartly capitalized on it and made us a top tier focus among other guys like Bulletproof and newer but equally talented people. This time though I was much more relaxed and began having fun with it. I remember throwing Dragon off OOC after I aided him in-character to win the fed's Heavyweight Title. It irritated him since he couldn't quite understand why I was lending assistance and not giving him a negative reaction anymore. The angle was designed to be one of those "I made sure you won it, so I could take it from you" stories but it never came to fruition with NasH having to cease the fed. He was just too busy. That too was a shame...he had a good thing going there.

Player/coaches were a big thing in efedding back in the late 90's. We were all kids then, so we didn't see a problem with it. However, it doesn't really work and it shouldn't be a part of it in this modern era. My take on it, either be a booker or a roleplayer. I learned my lesson then and never attempted that again.

This kind of thing works well if it's done right, but he was balls out trying to be a dick to everyone....except me of course. lol. I tried to mold him into a really good heel, but he had a hard time toning it down. But, he's a part of WWCWF lore....in more ways than one.
