I was thinking tonight, while watching an old episode of Nitro, that it really peeves me that there's never any mention of solid WCW matches. You take a look at any WCW related releases (the few there are) and they will throw on some bouts from the old school era of the company, or something that has Hogan or Goldberg. However none of the solid matches are even mentioned, period.
I've always kept a few in mind from when I was watching them live back in the late 90's, but I was reminded again tonight of some gems while watching the March 23, 1998 episode. Sting defends the World Title against DDP in a babyface versus babyface contest, that's also Champ versus Champ (DDP was the US Champ.) The match is excellent! In a rare instance there's also a 100% clean finish, that's awesome by the way.
I think WCW should be given it's due. Throw some of these good matches on the next DVD release about the company, or its big time stars. Ugh.
K, the random vent is over, lol.

I liked the Booker T vs. Benoit best of seven matches.

I was just thinking about those matches myself. The best of seven was indeed a series of classics.
I'll agree with Hitman's rant. I remember some very good WCW matches that would make for quite a collection. But think about it...the promotion had some great wrestlers at that time. Hart, Benoit, Sting, Savage, Malenko, DDP, Raven, Booker, Mysterio, Guerrero, Jericho, and so forth. It's no surprise there would be some solid matches here and there.

DDP and good matches don't go together. Sorry, but he was one of the WORST main eventers of all time. (IMO)
I do however, agree that there are 1000's of fantastic matches from WCW. Namely from the mid-card/cruiser weight divisions. Hell, they even had a good tag scene for quite some time.
I can remember watching Rey vs Malenko on Nitro when Rey reversed the top rope gut buster and nearly soiled myself. So amazing.
I remember Jericho's heel character on Nitro....so over and so much potential there. Idiots. The feud with Malenko was awesome when they incorporated Lenny Lane and Rufus. Haha.
I miss War Games the most....oh man. Was so vicious back in the day. WWE will bring it back and water it down I'm sure.

I have to disagree Missle...I thought DDP had decent matches. I remember watching Nitro regularly back in the day and found his matches to be pretty good.
However they did a good job of playing up the suddenness and effectiveness of the Diamond Cutter so that could have added a little excitement to his matches, and then there's always an opponent that can make you look like a million bucks. I honestly don't remember him stinking it up though.
I hear you on the Wargames front. Badass concept.
